Using the AccuQuilt Shape Cutter for Creative Therapy

Friday, September 30, 2016 - 1:00pm

Join with sewing and fabric cutting fans and friends at "The Sewing Studio" at 9605 S. Hwy. 17-92 in Maitland FL

(Usually, we meet One Friday a Month from 1:00-3:30 PM where we volunteer to sew walker and wheelchair "busy bags," and other useful items, for elders in need.)

But in September, we are focusing on the creative uses of the AccuQuilt Die-Shape Cutter to make simple craft and gift items, with and for, elders and youth.

From ornaments, to sachets, to jewelry, and coin pouches, to weaving and basketry.... this is sure to be a fun make-and-take and show-and-tell session.

For this special event, we will be hosting an in-store demo table from 1:00-6:00 PM

Upcoming Dates:  Nov. 18th & Dec. 9th 2016

Experienced Sewists and Serging Fans are welcomed right along with crafting novices.

Team tasks include a variety of skills such as: cutting patterns and fabric pieces, color-coordinating donated fabrics, cutting shapes with the AccuQuilt die-cut-roller machine, pressing and turning pockets and  straps, sewing, overlocking/binding edges,  serging, and packaging kits for at-home volunteers.

To support this effort by donating finished bags, fabric, thread, zippers, velcro, or other embellishments, please contact Eileen at 407-234-4768.  Free printable patters are available here or on Helpertunity's Facebook Page.

Special Thanks to The Sewing Studio, Kelsey, and the Serging Teachers Loralee & Jeannette for adopting Helpertunity and supporting this year's Busy-Bag Making initiative!

Download our specially designed "pillow-case style" pattern to make a unique walker / wheelchair-arm saddle-bag that can also convert into: a fidget cushion cover, a lap desk, a bed-rail caddie, or a hand-embellishing activity... and can also be turned inside-out for safer washing:
